Growing Herbs In The Dead of Winter

I am so glad I brought my hydroponics system with me. I set it up as soon as we got here in February and they are doing great. I have been enjoying new life even in the cold winter. Now they have gotten a little bigger, it's time to get them into some soil. I bought these stackable Planters from the Dollar Tree for $1.25 a piece. I went to Lowes and got some soil. In order to make these, you need to make sure you punch out the little drain holes in the bottom. Next, fill with some soil, plant your herbs, cover the rest of the way to the top and water. Stack the Planters on top of each other careul not to pinch or cover another plant.

Two of the plants were bought, I started the rest in my hydroponics system. I am waiting on some more to get big enough to transplant.  Ah! I finally got my hands in some dirt.

And in the very back potter, there is a little chive popped up from a scrap green onion that I just wanted to experiment with. And it worked. You can stack these as high as you want to. I would put something down the middle to keep them sturdy, though. Have someone drill a big hole right in the middle, put an old mop handle down in the hole and start stacking one by one after you fill them with dirt. You can also get a plant trivet with rollers on it so it moves easy back and forth. This will work for me right now. However, I am going to incorporate that idea for when we get home so I can put some on my back porch. Instant Garden Tower.

The more I learn about herbs and plants, the more I tie them to the Bible. It's amazing how God put the first nature's medicine on the earth for us. Luke was a physician in the Bible. There weren't pharmaceutical companies and synthetic medicines in those days. God created everything with a purpose,  and he said it was good. Genesis 1:12.
