Growing Herbs In The Dead of Winter

I am so glad I brought my hydroponics system with me. I set it up as soon as we got here in February and they are doing great. I have been enjoying new life even in the cold winter. Now they have gotten a little bigger, it's time to get them into some soil. I bought these stackable Planters from the Dollar Tree for $1.25 a piece. I went to Lowes and got some soil. In order to make these, you need to make sure you punch out the little drain holes in the bottom. Next, fill with some soil, plant your herbs, cover the rest of the way to the top and water. Stack the Planters on top of each other careul not to pinch or cover another plant.

Two of the plants were bought, I started the rest in my hydroponics system. I am waiting on some more to get big enough to transplant.  Ah! I finally got my hands in some dirt.

And in the very back potter, there is a little chive popped up from a scrap green onion that I just wanted to experiment with. And it worked. You can stack these as high as you want to. I would put something down the middle to keep them sturdy, though. Have someone drill a big hole right in the middle, put an old mop handle down in the hole and start stacking one by one after you fill them with dirt. You can also get a plant trivet with rollers on it so it moves easy back and forth. This will work for me right now. However, I am going to incorporate that idea for when we get home so I can put some on my back porch. Instant Garden Tower.

The more I learn about herbs and plants, the more I tie them to the Bible. It's amazing how God put the first nature's medicine on the earth for us. Luke was a physician in the Bible. There weren't pharmaceutical companies and synthetic medicines in those days. God created everything with a purpose,  and he said it was good. Genesis 1:12.

Goodbye February Hello March

I got to make a trip home and spend time with my people. The girls loved all their pajamas, aprons  and hairbows I made them, so much that they wanted to have pajama day every day ( except school days), so we did. All they wanted to do while I was home was sew. So my living room literally looked like this for 5 days. They created many things. I taught them how to cut out blocks with a rotary cutter and the grids. Only had one minor incident with a blade. Nothing a bandaid and time want heal. ๐Ÿ˜

We had fun in the kitchen making our own homemade mini pizzas, calzones, and rainbow grilled cheese, and Pokรฉmon pancakes. We played with new life on the farm (baby calf), had tea parties every day, ate popcorn in Poppies bed ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜, got to go to church, read the Bible and did alot of praying together.

Got to go on a dinner date with my mini me. And got to see some of my big peeps, although some had to work. You know, grown up stuff. That's life. But I'll take what I can get.

25 yrs and still going strong. I think Dixie is going to outlive all of us. The girls found new ways to repurpose her. They have hauled her down hills and gulleys  to see cows, they get out their dr kit and give her checkups and feed her. And they still ride off into the sunset. Giddy up cowgirl ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ‡๐ŸŽ๐Ÿด

The time came for me to have to get back to dear hubby. They are beginning to understand that Poppie needs someone to take care of him while we're gone and that is me. I tell them, I will take care of Poppie for you. That seems to make them feel better.

I got the chance to go out to eat with our youngest son before I left. We had a good time and long talks. He has always been my mini me and no one gets each other the way we do. Except his wife. She gets him and I am so glad she does.

I had to leave the next morning. God watched over me all the way back to LA.
