You Should Visit These Two Places In Virginia

My sweetheart never disappoints. Last week, my dear hubby took me on an adventure.  It was an eventful, and exciting day for me. I finally got to visit a place I was supposed to have visited 3 years ago when we were here in VA. It is a place where my ancestors have walked. You see,

On that one piece of paper I have included is our ancestry that a family member took the time and was provided the resources to trace our ancestry. We were always told all our lives by family members that we were related to an Indian Princess but no one knew who.

At the bottom of the list and underlined is my biological great-grandfather on the Miller side. We were traced back to none other than the Legendary Chief Powhatan, through one of his many daughters, Cleopatra, half-sister of the Legendary Pocahontas. I'm sorry to find out that not a lot of history surrounds Cleopatra but she did, however, go on to become the Chief's Wife of the tribe (who in turn winds up being her half-uncle, half-brother to Chief Powhatan, after their father passed) I guess which made her a Queen of the tribe. All Powhatan chiefs were called Chief Powhatan. They were not called by their real names. More history is focused on Chief Powhatan and Pocahontas due to what happened at the settlement of Jamestown, VA, and England.

Chief Powhatan had many tribes in his confederacy and spent alot of time at the settlement and Cleopatra and Pocahontas visited and played with many children at the settlement. Cleopatra is buried in Maryland and Pocahontas is buried at a Cathedral Church in England. Pocahontas was baptized into Christianity in England before she married John Rolfe and changed her name to Rebecca.

My sweetheart took me to the Historic Jamestown Settlement in Williamsburg, VA.

To say I was excited is an understatement. My heart literally beat so fast the whole time. We walked through the museum and outdoor demonstrations. I ran down both of our phones taking so many pics. There's no way I will be able to post all of them. (Sorry to family or friends who tried to call or text). We had to charge up our phones when we got back in the truck.

Then we visited one more place. We drove 20 minutes over and went to the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. The timing was perfect seeing though it was Veterans Day weekend. This place is awesome with an outdoor farm and settlement presentations as well. Once again I will never be able to upload all the pics but here are some.

This is a day I will never forget. Please enjoy SOME of the pictures. The rest I will hold dear in my heart and possibly create a photo album. Thank you sweetheart for my adventure. I am truly grateful.

I hope you enjoyed 😉

What If There Were No Medicine?

Welcome friends to today's post. I want to talk about something and give you some things to think about.

Our part of the country just went through a devastating natural disaster and a lot of people are still recovering. But I actually had some afterthoughts. So many businesses were lost that people really depend on for survival and sustainability. Doctors, hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies, just to name a few besides grocery stores.

It made me think, What if someone got sick and needed medicine? I am all about getting medical advice when I so need it, but also, I also lean towards what the good Lord provided for us as well. I believe what the Bible says in Genisis 1:12

12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

You see, GOD SAW THAT IT WAS GOOD!!!!!!!

I have to trust in and believe that. If you were to get sick or someone in your family got sick during such a crisis as this and nothing was available, what would you do? This is where you need to start thinking outside the box.

I started a long time ago dabbling into natural remedies for some of my own health issues. I also went about discussing these natural remedies and supplements with my doctor and he was on board with me taking them as long as they didn't interfere with any of my medications I do have to take for my Rheumatoid Arthritis. My doctor understands me and my concerns about a lot of pharmaceuticals too. He works with me. I do depend on medication for my arthritis because it really helps me keep it under somewhat of control and it slows the progress down. Is it healing it? No. It's not meant to. If something were to happen that I could not get my medication and take it, it would not be nice. That's why I started doing my own research and having a plan. Everyone needs to really give this a thought. By no means am I a medical doctor and would never tell you to drop your medications or never go see a doctor, but we really need to start thinking for ourselves where our health is concerned.

There are a few things I like to keep handy or make on a whim if need be, especially during the cold and flu season. Just some homemade remedies. I am also looking into and researching more for overall health benefits on a daily basis. I am eventually wanting to grow some of these for our farm and stock an apothecary or medicine cabinet. Elderberry, Goldenrod, Echinachea, and Mullein.

These plants are all powerhouses for overall well-being and in times of sickness.

I have a few videos that I have put out of me working with and making remedies using elderberries and goldenrod.

I do not have written tutorials on these yet.

I will try to get some tutorials up eventually. It will take some time.

I do have a few other natural remedies that I make up for the cold and flu season

The Golden Rod video is very lengthy but very informative. I did not realize how many ailments this powerhouse helped and all the benefits it holds for the health and wellness of our bodies. Be sure to grab a snack and something to drink, pen and paper as well.

I really hope you will take these thoughts into consideration and dwell on them. Do what is best for you and your family so you can be prepared and stocked in case of emergencies or if you just want to embark on this natural journey as well.

I hope you find these videos very informative and helpful.
