Do This For Cold and Flu Season

Hello Friends. Welcome to today's post.

September came in like a wrecking ball and slammed the door like a mad teenager. If your area is anything like ours, within a month of being back in school, the germs started flying, and kids automatically started getting sick. I had to go pick up one of the grandkids from school because she was running a fever. It was low-grade, but schools these days are not taking any chances. I understand the cause for alarm, but these new rules for public schools make them miss a day of school because of it. Children mysteriously run low-grade fevers. Their little bodies are trying to fight off some kind of little bug they got, or sometimes you run a little fever when cutting teeth. Don't get me on my soapbox. That is a whole new ball game. Anyway, I get her back home, and she goes and puts her on some comfy winter pajamas, mind you, and crawls on the couch and throws the cover on her. She does say her throat hurts just a little. Well, that's how it all gets started.

I made her up a medicinal tea of yarrow and echinacea. I mixed a little honey in, and she sipped on it for a while. Never could get her to eat, though. I believe she finally ate a homemade apple sauce pouch I had stocked in the refrigerator. I kept a check on her fever, and we were good the rest of the day. Her fever never rose, but it took a while for her to fight off whatever she picked up. Since the schools have a 24-hour dismissal policy, she could not return to school the next day. So, jokes on you school, her Dad brought her to me the next morning on his way to work, and she spent the day with me playing and having a good time. Her fever was gone that next morning, and she was back to her old self.

It is scenarios such as this that show why I am prepared. I believe that everything that God put here on this earth is for our sustainability. Every plant, every tree, everything.

I prepare for the seasons like this by making tinctures, elixirs, oxymels, and having dried herbal leaves to turn into medicinal teas.

Fall is Goldenrod season and this plant works just like dandelion, which is blooming in the spring. Its medicinal benefits are amazing. I make a tincture, an infused oil, and dry some for teas.

If you want to know all about Goldenrod and its amazing medicinal benefits, you can watch by clicking on the video below:

If you want to know the second half, where I teach you to make your own infused oil and tincture, click on the video below:

This is what you need to look for. This is what Goldenrod looks like.

You can make tinctures and teas easily. This is a burdock tincture I made. And now it was time to strain it and pour it into an amber glass bottle.

This is a cold and flu season remedy I love to have on hand also. It is a fermented garlic and honey remedy. The first sign of an itchy throat or soreness, or an itchy cough, you take a teaspoon of this 4 times a day and you are good to go.
